TechFlow News, July 21 — Minecraft has announced it does not support the integration of blockchain or NFTs into its game. The company stated that such uses of NFTs and other blockchain technologies establish digital ownership based on scarcity and exclusivity, which contradicts Minecraft's values of creative inclusiveness and shared play. NFTs do not embrace our entire community but instead create a divide between the rich and the poor. The speculative pricing and investment mindset surrounding NFTs shift focus away from playing the game, encouraging get-rich-quick mentalities that conflict with our goal of helping players achieve long-term enjoyment.
To ensure Minecraft players have a safe and inclusive experience, blockchain technology may not be integrated into our Minecraft client and server applications, nor may it be used to create NFTs associated with any in-game content, including worlds, skins, character items, or mods.
