TechFlow News, June 5: According to Politico, Matthew Modabber, Chief Marketing Officer of Polymarket, transferred over $2.5 million via his personal PayPal account to more than 800 individuals between January 2025 and February 2026. Approximately 24 verified influencers among the recipients posted Polymarket-related content on X (formerly Twitter) after receiving payments—totaling over 490 posts—and none disclosed the paid promotional relationship.
The recipients included content creators across the political spectrum—from conservative to progressive voices. Some posts presented Polymarket odds data using journalistic-sounding language such as “BREAKING” or “NEW.” In response, a Polymarket spokesperson stated that influencer collaborations are standard business practice for the company but declined to comment on its disclosure policies or on Modabber’s use of a personal account for these transactions. U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines require influencers to disclose “material connections” with brands they promote.
