TechFlow News: On June 3, Galaxy Research reported that a physical Casascius Bitcoin coin—minted between 2011 and 2013, with a face value of 25 BTC (approximately $1.78 million)—had its private key extracted and the funds withdrawn on-chain.
Casascius Coins are early physical Bitcoin collectibles, each containing a genuine Bitcoin private key sealed inside. Holders can access the funds by peeling off the tamper-evident holographic sticker. Production of this series ceased in 2013, and tens of thousands of BTC remain locked in unopened Casascius physical coins.
