TechFlow reports that on June 1, according to the Wall Street Journal, Florida became the first U.S. state to file a lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman amid escalating protests targeting alleged safety flaws in AI chatbots. Florida Attorney General James Uthman filed the suit on Monday, alleging that OpenAI and Altman knowingly launched products with safety hazards while ignoring warnings about potential harm to users.
