TechFlow News, May 11: According to the official website of the Chinese government, the General Office of the State Council issued the “State Council’s 2026 Legislative Work Plan,” which specifically highlights legislative initiatives to improve AI governance. The plan explicitly states that comprehensive legislation promoting the healthy development of AI will be expedited, and laws concerning data, computing power, algorithms, intellectual property rights, cybersecurity, supply chain security—key common elements underpinning AI—as well as regulations governing high-priority application scenarios will be further refined. By incorporating AI governance into a national-level comprehensive legislative framework, this initiative marks China’s entry into a substantive phase of building its AI regulatory architecture.
