TechFlow News, April 20: According to Iran’s Press TV, Ebrahim Azizi, former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and current chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, stated that Iran will never relinquish control over the Strait of Hormuz. He described this vital waterway as an inseparable part of Iran’s national sovereignty and affirmed that it will remain under Iran’s full jurisdiction at all times. When asked whether Tehran would ever cede control of the strait, Azizi replied, “Absolutely not. This is our inalienable right. Iran will determine the right of passage—including granting permission for vessels to transit the strait.” He added that this principle is being codified into law.
The veteran lawmaker said: “We are introducing a bill in parliament grounded in Article 110 of the Constitution, covering environmental protection, maritime security, and national security; the armed forces will enforce this law.” Tehran now views its capacity to regulate maritime traffic through this waterway as critical to restoring deterrence and sustaining long-term strategic leverage.
