TechFlow News, April 12: U.S. Vice President Vance held a press conference at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital. Vance stated that the U.S.-Iran negotiations held in Islamabad failed to reach an agreement, with significant differences between the two sides remaining.
Vance said that after approximately 21 hours of negotiations, no agreement had been reached. Both sides had engaged in multiple rounds of “substantive discussions,” but ultimately achieved no results.
He noted that the U.S. side had clearly outlined its “red lines” and acceptable versus unacceptable terms, yet Iran “chose not to accept these conditions.” Vance stated that the core reason for the failure to reach an agreement was Iran’s lack of an explicit commitment to abandon its nuclear weapons program.
Vance emphasized that the U.S. demands require Iran not only to refrain from developing nuclear weapons currently but also to commit long-term to forgoing related capabilities and technologies—yet “such clear willingness has not yet been observed.”
He stressed that this objective represents President Trump’s central demand in the negotiations. Regarding negotiation details, Vance declined to disclose specific content but reiterated that the nuclear issue remains one of the key points of contention. (CCTV News)
