TechFlow News, March 27: According to a report by the U.S. Wall Street Journal on March 26 citing mediation sources, Iran has not—as U.S. President Trump claimed—“requested” that the U.S. postpone its airstrikes against Iranian energy facilities by another 10 days, nor has it yet issued a final response to the U.S.-proposed “15-point plan” for ending hostilities. The report states that Iranian officials have informed mediators of their willingness to engage in negotiations; however, Iran’s leadership has not yet publicly commented on or made a final decision regarding this matter. Iranian officials previously explicitly demanded that the U.S. withdraw its “excessive demands” outlined in the “15-point plan,” stating they would not agree to hold talks on a possible ceasefire unless this condition was met. These officials also ruled out placing Iran’s missile program on the agenda as an opening topic for negotiations and refused to commit to permanently halting uranium enrichment activities. Mediators noted that the prospects for reaching a ceasefire remain slim, as both Iran and the U.S. have put forward extreme demands unacceptable to the other side. (Cailian News)
