TechFlow News, March 24: According to The Times of Israel, a 26-year-old Israeli reservist, Raz Cohen, has been formally indicted at the Jerusalem District Court for allegedly transmitting classified information to Iranian intelligence officers in exchange for cryptocurrency.
According to a joint statement by the Israel Police and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), Cohen previously served in a unit responsible for the “Iron Dome” air defense system. During his contact with Iranian intelligence officers, he transmitted sensitive information regarding the “Iron Dome” system, details about military bases, and the names of Israeli security officials, receiving approximately $1,000 worth of cryptocurrency as payment.
Cohen faces charges including aiding the enemy during wartime, transmitting information with the intent of harming national security, and conveying information that could benefit the enemy. Under Israeli criminal law, aiding the enemy during wartime carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment or even the death penalty.
