TechFlow News: On March 18, CFTC Chairman Mike Selig posted on X in support of prediction market platform Kalshi. He stated that Arizona Attorney General’s criminal charges against a futures exchange already registered with the CFTC—charges related to prediction markets—constitute, at their core, a jurisdictional dispute, and elevating such a dispute to criminal prosecution is “entirely inappropriate.” The CFTC is closely monitoring developments in this matter and assessing potential responsive actions.
Earlier, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes filed criminal charges against Kalshi, accusing the prediction market platform of operating an unlicensed gambling business in violation of state law.
