Energy Secretary Wright said: “I believe this conflict will certainly end within the coming weeks—and possibly even sooner… Afterward, we’ll see supply rebound and prices fall accordingly.” Hassett, Director of the White House National Economic Council, echoed this view: “We anticipate a significant positive shock to the global economy once this matter concludes.” Wright acknowledged the economic impact of the conflict but argued that enduring “short-term pain” is preferable to “facing an Iran with nuclear weapons.” These remarks come as the Israeli military stated its operations in Iran will continue for at least another three weeks.
