TechFlow News, March 3: According to a new report by blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs, Iran’s cryptocurrency transaction volume plummeted approximately 80% following the U.S.-Israeli joint military operation. Despite this sharp decline in trading activity, Iran’s major cryptocurrency exchanges remain operational under “controllable risk” conditions. The Central Bank of Iran previously instructed major platforms—including Nobitex, Wallex, and Tabdeal—to suspend USDT-rial trading pairs.
TRM Labs suggests that current transaction data reflects “mechanical access restrictions” rather than a collapse of market infrastructure, and it approaches claims of capital flight with caution—a stance diverging from Elliptic’s earlier report indicating a 700% surge in fund outflows from Nobitex. The U.S.-Israeli coalition launched strikes against Iran on February 28, resulting in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and sustaining heightened geopolitical tensions.
