TechFlow News: On February 27, according to The Block, zkSync officially announced that block production on zkSync Lite will cease on May 4, 2026, and the network’s final state will be permanently frozen. As Ethereum’s first zero-knowledge rollup, zkSync Lite—launched in June 2020—primarily supported token transfers, atomic swaps, and NFT minting, but did not include smart contract functionality.
The official statement clarifies that this shutdown will not affect other zkSync products such as Era, nor chains built on the zkStack framework. Users are advised to withdraw their assets before the deadline for a smoother experience; however, unwithdrawn funds will remain fully claimable after the deadline.
