TechFlow news, February 26: According to Cointelegraph, prediction market platform Kalshi announced on Wednesday that a former California gubernatorial candidate has been banned from the platform for insider trading violations. The politician was issued a five-year ban and a $2,000 fine after placing approximately $200 in bets related to their own campaign and posting about it on X.
Although Kalshi did not disclose the politician’s name, the description appears to match Kyle Langford—a former Republican who later switched to the Democratic Party and is currently running for U.S. House of Representatives in California’s 26th congressional district.
In addition, Kalshi imposed a two-year ban and a fine of approximately $20,000 on a YouTube editor who traded roughly $4,000 on YouTube’s livestream marketplace between August and September 2025, violating Kalshi’s insider trading rules. While Kalshi did not name the YouTube editor, major media outlets widely reported that the individual is Artem Kaptur, an employee of popular YouTuber MrBeast.
