TechFlow News: On February 11, according to The Block, payments giant Stripe has launched a preview version of its Machine Payments system, integrated with the x402 protocol, enabling developers and enterprises to directly charge autonomous AI agents using USDC stablecoins on the Base network.
Jeff Weinstein, Stripe’s Head of Product, stated that this deployment will ultimately expand to include additional protocols, currencies, and blockchains. The system leverages Stripe’s PaymentIntents API, allowing businesses to programmatically charge for AI agents’ API usage, model context protocol calls, and HTTP requests.
