TechFlow News: On February 11, TMZ reported that 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. Blood was found at the scene. The kidnappers sent ransom letters to TMZ and two local television stations, demanding a $6 million Bitcoin ransom. On February 10, law enforcement released images of the suspect, showing a man wearing a ski mask and carrying a handgun at his waist who tampered with the doorbell camera. Investigations suggest the kidnapper likely originates from the Tucson area and operates within a 700-mile radius of Tucson.
The latest breakthrough is that the Bitcoin wallet specified in the ransom letter has shown activity for the first time. Although two ransom deadlines have passed, Savannah Guthrie, host of “TODAY,” has attempted to contact the kidnappers and expressed willingness to pay the ransom. Nancy requires a cardiac pacemaker and daily medication. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her safe recovery.
