TechFlow News: On February 9, according to a Cointelegraph report, Scam Sniffer revealed that in January alone, one victim lost $12.2 million by copying an incorrect address. Combined with the $50 million loss from similar attacks in December last year, these two incidents resulted in over $62 million in total losses. Attackers induced victims to copy the wrong address by sending small “dust” transactions to addresses resembling those in the target’s transaction history.
Meanwhile, signature phishing attacks are also on the rise: in January, 4,741 victims lost $6.27 million—a 207% increase compared to December. Analysts note that Ethereum’s Fusaka upgrade has lowered transaction costs, potentially contributing to the surge in such attacks; dust transactions related to stablecoins now account for 11% of all Ethereum transactions. Security experts urge users to verify the full integrity of addresses to guard against these attacks.
