TechFlow News, February 7: According to JIN10 Data, U.S. President Trump has authorized his administration to impose tariff measures on countries trading with Iran, though no new tariffs will be levied immediately. On Friday, Trump signed an executive order stating that tariffs will be imposed on products imported into the United States from countries that “purchase, import, or otherwise acquire any goods or services directly or indirectly from Iran.” Under this executive order, the U.S. Secretary of State and the Secretary of Commerce will jointly determine whether a country meets the criteria for tariff imposition. Once such criteria are confirmed, they will work with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and the Department of Homeland Security to decide the specific extent of additional tariffs. Trump did not specify exact tariff rates but cited the initial threat of a 25% tariff on Iran’s trading partners as an example.
