TechFlow News, January 28: According to The Block, Ethereum researcher Thomas Thiery (also known as “soispoke”) has proposed Fork-Choice Enforced Inclusion Lists (FOCIL) as a core feature of Ethereum’s upcoming Hegota upgrade. This proposal has been assigned EIP-7805.
FOCIL aims to reduce Ethereum’s reliance on centralized block builders by enabling multiple validators to ensure the inclusion of specific transactions in blocks. This mechanism enhances the network’s censorship resistance and prevents selective transaction exclusion. The FOCIL specification has completed review, and prototype implementations already exist across most Ethereum clients. This feature is expected to be a key improvement in the Hegota upgrade, further strengthening Ethereum’s decentralization.
