TechFlow News: On January 24, Rishav Mukherji, co-founder of Neynar, published a post outlining Farcaster’s development vision: Neynar will maintain the Farcaster protocol, operate the Farcaster client, and manage Clanker. Some members of the Clanker team will join Neynar.
Neynar has long served as a critical infrastructure provider within the Farcaster ecosystem; this integration represents a natural evolution following years of deep community engagement. The vision is to empower builders to move from ideas to sustainable revenue—building a “builder-first” network.
Farcaster’s core value lies in its long-established builder community—a group that has driven key innovations such as Frames, Degen, and Warpcast. Farcaster’s value resides not only in its products but also in the people who experiment, share knowledge, and build openly.
Neynar’s acquisition of Farcaster centers on its core mission: making software development simpler. At the product level, no major changes are planned for Farcaster, Neynar, or Clanker; rumors about discontinuing the protocol or client are false. The Neynar developer platform will remain operational, and financial and transaction-related features will stay unchanged. The next phase will focus on evaluating product priorities, advancing the roadmap incrementally while preserving the network’s openness.
