TechFlow News: On January 24, Zakk Wang, Product Lead of OKX Wallet, stated at OKX’s annual reunion dinner event that X Layer serves as a critical cornerstone for OKX’s ongoing Web3 advancement and must fulfill its historical responsibilities.
The development of X Layer will proceed in three phases:
Phase One focuses on strengthening the underlying technology to ensure sustained high performance, stability, and low cost—featuring nearly free transaction gas fees, along with high TPS and block production speed;
Phase Two centers on infrastructure, DeFi, and asset development. While integrating Uniswap, priority will be given to building a stable and robust swap and DeFi ecosystem, continuously increasing on-chain TVL, supporting high-frequency, mainstream use cases such as staking, avoiding ecosystem over-concentration, and enhancing payment infrastructure—including card-based solutions and X402 capabilities—all centered around X Layer;
The project has now entered Phase Three overall. OKX will begin deploying previously announced incentive funds, launching an X Layer hackathon targeting communities and universities to drive the real-world implementation of projects that genuinely advance the industry.
