TechFlow reported on January 23, according to the latest CoinDesk report, that Ethereum blockchain's daily active addresses briefly surpassed 1.3 million on January 1, 2026, exceeding major Layer-2 networks such as Arbitrum and Base. This growth was primarily driven by the Fusaka upgrade in December last year, which significantly reduced transaction fees. However, security researcher Andrey Sergeev pointed out that approximately two-thirds of this data is related to "address poisoning" attacks, where attackers send small amounts of stablecoins to millions of wallets to trick users into mistakenly copying similar-looking addresses for transactions. The attack has already caused at least $740,000 in confirmed losses.
