TechFlow News: On January 21, according to The Block, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published a proposal on the Ethereum Research Forum on January 21, 2026, recommending the direct integration of Distributed Validator Technology (DVT) into the network’s staking protocol. This proposal would allow validators to register multiple independent keys under a single validator identity; as long as more than two-thirds of the nodes remain operational, the validator can continue functioning normally—thereby reducing single-point-of-failure risks.
Buterin stated that, unlike existing complex DVT implementations, this native integration approach would simplify operational procedures, enabling individuals and institutions to stake independently without relying on large staking providers—thus enhancing network decentralization.
