TechFlow news, January 15 — According to DL News, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman are set to attend Bitmine's annual shareholder meeting today in Las Vegas. Shareholders will vote on a proposal to increase the number of authorized shares from 500 million to 50 billion.
Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee confirmed the attendance of the two tech leaders on Wednesday and explained the rationale behind the significant share authorization increase: "If we don't vote in favor of increasing shares, the company will stop growing." Bitmine primarily funds its Ethereum purchasing program through issuing and selling new shares.
Lee said Buterin and Altman are expected to deliver speeches during the meeting.
