TechFlow news: On January 14, according to Hong Kong Wen Wei Po, a 32-year-old Hong Kong man suspected of losing around 10 million yuan in cryptocurrency investments was found dead after jumping from a building in front of his father upon returning to Hong Kong from the UK two days prior.
The report stated that the man held a master's degree and was pursuing a second one. After losing his job during the pandemic in 2022, he developed a mental illness requiring regular medication. In September last year, he went to the UK for further studies. During recent communications with his father, he displayed emotional instability. Following family advice, he returned to Hong Kong for medical treatment.
On the afternoon of the previous day, after arriving home, the man told his father about his losses of approximately 10 million yuan from cryptocurrency investments. He then lost emotional control, slashed his wrists, rushed onto the balcony, and jumped. Police investigations concluded no foul play and classified the incident as a fall from height.
