TechFlow news, November 24 — According to Decrypt, a serious cryptocurrency robbery occurred Saturday morning in San Francisco's Mission Dolores neighborhood. A man posing as a delivery worker gained entry, then threatened the homeowner at gunpoint, bound them with tape, and forced the victim to hand over credentials to their crypto wallet, a laptop, and mobile phone, making off with $11 million worth of cryptocurrency.
Security researchers report that over 60 such "wrench attacks" have been recorded globally this year—averaging one per week—doubling last year's total. Experts say identifying suspects in these cases is typically far easier than recovering stolen cryptocurrency.
Police are investigating through device tracking, blockchain analysis, and victim interviews, but have not announced any arrests or asset recoveries.
