TechFlow, November 21 — According to Bloomberg, the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) revealed that Russian intelligence agencies funded a spy network linked to former Wirecard executive Jan Marsalek through a money laundering operation converting cash into cryptocurrency.
The spy ring, composed of six Bulgarian nationals, has been convicted on charges including espionage, surveillance of journalists and political figures, and plotting assassination operations. UK police stated that the network posed a serious threat before it was dismantled.
Nearly a year ago, the UK's National Crime Agency shut down two Russian money laundering networks that had moved billions of dollars globally. Investigations showed that one of these networks had attempted to fund the aforementioned spy operation.
