TechFlow news, October 13 — According to The Independent, Jack Advent, former social media manager for Trump, suggested that the president consider appointing his 19-year-old son, Barron Trump, to a position on the TikTok board to enhance the platform's appeal to younger users. Advent stated that young people are TikTok's primary user base and urged Trump to consider placing Barron and other young Americans on TikTok's board.
Previously, Trump signed an executive order allowing U.S. investors to obtain authorized copies of the app's recommendation algorithm, under which American companies would hold approximately 65% of shares in the U.S. version, while Chinese investors such as ByteDance would hold less than 20%. The new investor group will be led by Oracle, a company headed by 81-year-old tech billionaire Larry Ellison. Trump claimed he "saved TikTok" and said users "owe him a lot."
