TechFlow, Oct. 9 — According to Decrypt, the Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office filed charges this week against Murad Mahajna of Tel Aviv and two accomplices for allegedly orchestrating a home invasion robbery targeting a cryptocurrency trader in Herzliya, involving nearly $600,000.
Prosecutors allege that on September 7, the three suspects ambushed the father of two children in the stairwell of his apartment building, bound his hands with cables, and assaulted him. The suspects initially demanded 500 BTC (approximately $61 million); after the victim refused to hand over his wallet credentials, one of the attackers stabbed him in both legs.
After an hour-long ordeal, the victim was forced to provide access to his accounts. The attackers transferred Bitcoin worth $547,000 and USDT worth $42,000, and also stole a Rolex watch valued at $50,000, a laptop, and a Trezor hardware wallet, among other items.
