On January 25, meow, co-founder of Jupiter, announced on X that a meme token named WEN would be launched via the project’s newly released LFG Launchpad platform.
70% of the total supply of WEN will be airdropped to over one million Solana wallet addresses. The airdrop claim window opens at 10:00 AM EST on January 26 (23:00 Beijing time tonight) and will remain open until January 29.
JUP's Pre-Launch Hype
Although the name "WEN" is being officially revealed for the first time, Jupiter had previously teased the launch of this meme token multiple times without disclosing its name.
As early as January 15, when meow announced that JUP's TGE would occur on January 31, he mentioned two test token launches planned prior to JUP: the first being mockJUP, and the second a meme coin—emphasizing that the latter would be a true "meme coin."
Last week, Jupiter completed the test launch of mockJUP. Eligible users who qualified for the JUP airdrop were given a short window to claim mockJUP tokens (now closed). Despite meow repeatedly stressing that mockJUP was valueless, community enthusiasm drove the test token to reach a circulating market cap of tens of millions of dollars. Most airdrop recipients ended up with a decent-sized “reward” from the surge.
Earlier this week, Jupiter officially announced the beta release of its Jupiter LFG Launchpad platform, revealing that both the upcoming meme token and JUP itself would be distributed through this new platform.
Last night, meow’s official announcement confirmed that the meme token’s final name would be WEN.
The Meme Behind WEN
The meme essence of WEN stems from the community’s intense anticipation and desire for potential airdrops.
Meow noted that over the past month, he has been asked countless times variations of “Wen token?” or “Wen airdrop?”. In response, he jokingly wrote a poem. In it, he wrote: “Wens means how much you crave my shit, so much that some of you even want to dump my ass…”
Unexpectedly, the poem gained widespread popularity within the community.
Inspired, meow decided to mint the poem as an NFT. However, unfamiliar with NFTs himself, he delegated the minting process to the Ovols team, who then fractionalized the NFT into one trillion pieces—technically making the WEN token a fungible token (FT) derived from the fractionalization of this poetic NFT.
WEN Airdrop Mechanics
According to the disclosed tokenomics, WEN has a total supply of one trillion tokens, allocated across three main components:

70% of WEN will be airdropped and evenly distributed to over 1 million Solana wallet addresses. Eligible recipients include Jupiter users, Ovols NFT holders, blue-chip NFT holders, Genesis Saga NFT holders, and mockJUP testers;

20% of WEN will be used to establish liquidity in DLMM;

10% of WEN will be reserved for the treasury, with 0.75% allocated to the Jupiter DAO and 0.25% to the Jupiter team;

After the airdrop claim period ends, any unclaimed WEN tokens will be burned.
Meow further clarified that WEN is a token launched by the Ovols team using Jupiter’s LFG Launchpad. Jupiter’s involvement is limited to hosting the project via the LFG Launchpad platform and receiving a total of 1% of WEN from the treasury allocation—otherwise, it has no affiliation with the project.
Tonight at 23:00 Beijing time, the WEN airdrop will officially open for claims and remain active until 03:00 UTC on January 29 (11:00 Beijing time). Since all eligible addresses will receive an equal share, every qualifying recipient will get exactly 643,652 WEN tokens.
Given that the previous mockJUP test airdrop delivered meaningful value to many users, WEN—being a token meow has built up more anticipation around—is expected to deliver a strong market debut tonight.
This could well be a hidden wealth opportunity for the Jupiter community before the official JUP airdrop.
