Video game developer Insomniac Games is renowned worldwide for its critically acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man series.
Recent reports indicate that Insomniac Games has fallen victim to a cyberattack, with hacking group Rhysida demanding a ransom of 50 BTC (approximately $2 million).
Rhysida has threatened to leak confidential information about the upcoming game "Marvel's Wolverine" unless the ransom is paid within seven days.
According to CyberDaily, Rhysida has already released partial confidential data to substantiate their claim of having successfully breached Insomniac Games' systems.

The leaked information includes a screenshot of annotated content from the "Marvel's Wolverine" game, offering insight into its overall development progress. Additionally, character art related to other Marvel characters has been exposed, potentially hinting at their inclusion in the game.
Reportedly, the leaked data also contains passport scans of Insomniac employees, including one individual who was dismissed by the studio two months ago and now works at Disney.
In addition, personal documents related to Yuri Lowenthal have been exposed. The respected voice actor portrayed Spider-Man in the recently released Marvel's Spider-Man games.
The leaked materials include internal emails and signed confidentiality agreements, further highlighting the severity of the data breach. Rhysida is leveraging the stolen data to host an auction, inviting potential buyers to bid on these unique and exclusive pieces of information.

The auction starts at 50 BTC, with a promise that the winning bidder will become the sole owner of the acquired data.
On its data leak website, Rhysida issued a statement urging interested parties to open their wallets during the limited time before full disclosure of the confidential information, acquiring this highly sought-after intelligence. The group emphasized the exclusivity and significance of the data.
The cybercriminals stated: "Only seven days left—seize the opportunity to bid on exclusive, shocking data... Open your wallet and purchase exclusive data. We only sell to one person, no resale. You will be the sole owner."
Notably, Insomniac Games has not yet issued an official statement regarding this cyberattack or the subsequent ransom demand.
As Rhysida's deadline approaches, both the gaming and BTC communities remain on edge, hoping for a swift resolution to protect the integrity of the "Marvel's Wolverine" game while holding the perpetrators accountable.
