TechFlow news, August 2 — According to the latest update from the TRON community, during TRON #43 developer meeting, community developers held in-depth discussions on the SELFDESTRUCT opcode upgrade proposal and put forward a plan compatible with Ethereum's EIP-6780, aiming to adjust the behavior and execution cost of this opcode to enhance network security and compatibility. According to the meeting content, the upgrade mainly includes the following adjustments: the SELFDESTRUCT opcode will completely remove the contract from the chain and transfer assets to the target address only when it is called "within the same transaction that created the contract"; otherwise, only the assets within the contract will be transferred while the contract itself will remain. Additionally, the energy consumption for executing SELFDESTRUCT will be adjusted from the current 0 to 5000, preventing opcode abuse and potential denial-of-service attack risks. Community developers stated that this upgrade draws on Ethereum's gas cost updates, aiming for greater compatibility with Ethereum. If approved, contracts will support multiple executions of SELFDESTRUCT, and the more reasonable execution cost will further improve the security and stability of the TRON network, providing developers with a more reliable environment.
