TechFlow news, July 25 — According to cryptocurrency journalist Eleanor Terrett, during the trial of Tornado Cash co-founder and developer Roman Storm, Assistant U.S. Attorney Rehn revealed that the Department of Justice is still considering bringing legal action against multiple individuals at crypto venture firm Dragonfly Capital, not limited to general partner Tom Schmidt.
Dragonfly Capital was a venture backer of Tornado Cash. The court reviewed email exchanges between Roman Storm, his co-founders, and Dragonfly Capital's Haseeb Qureshi and Tom Schmidt, including emails where Storm’s team sought feedback on adding KYC (Know Your Customer) features to the platform.
The defense had planned for Schmidt to testify, but he invoked the Fifth Amendment through his attorney and refused to testify. It remains unclear whether he will be granted immunity, or whether he would testify if granted immunity.
The case is set to resume next week, with closing arguments expected then.
