TechFlow news, on July 24, according to Arkham disclosure, the U.S. government currently holds at least 198,000 bitcoins (approximately $23.5 billion), not merely 29,000 as rumored. These bitcoins are distributed across multiple U.S. government agencies including the FBI, Department of Justice, and DEA, and have not moved over the past four months. The assets mainly originate from three sources: bitcoins worth $13.65 billion seized from the Bitfinex hacker, bitcoins worth $8.26 billion seized from the "Silk Road" case, and bitcoins worth $1.17 billion seized from James Zhong. Previously, Cynthia Lummis, a U.S. Senator from Wyoming, expressed concern about the possibility of the U.S. government selling large amounts of its bitcoin holdings, calling it a strategic mistake.
