TechFlow news, July 14 — According to Cointelegraph, the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal BIP-119 (OP_CHECKTEMPLATEVERIFY) is gaining momentum, with 66 prominent developers now co-signing support. If approved, BIP-119 will significantly enhance Bitcoin's security by introducing "covenants" and "vaults," while enabling breakthrough improvements for Layer-2 solutions such as the Lightning Network. Steven Roose, CEO of Second, stated that while full implementation may still take one to two years, the technical community could reach consensus on the upgrade path by the end of 2025. The proposal would make everyday Bitcoin payments more convenient and could foster interoperability with the Ethereum ecosystem, opening broader application scenarios for Bitcoin.
