TechFlow news, on July 11, the Ethereum Foundation released the L1 zkEVM real-time proving standard on July 10, 2025, as the first step in its comprehensive adoption roadmap for zero-knowledge proof technology. The standard requires zkVM systems to achieve 128-bit security, prove 99% of mainnet blocks within 10 seconds, have proof sizes no larger than 300KiB, and require no trusted setup. To support home verification, hardware costs should be under $100,000 with power consumption not exceeding 10kW. This initiative aims to enhance Ethereum's network security, liveness, and censorship resistance, while laying the foundation for future native zk-rollups. Ethereum plans to complete deployment of L1 zkEVM within less than a year.
