TechFlow, May 22 — Today marks the 15th anniversary of "Bitcoin Pizza Day." In 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz used 10,000 bitcoins to buy two pizzas, worth about $40 at the time.
As bitcoin breaks through the $110,000 mark today, hitting a new all-time high, the value of the bitcoins in that transaction has reached nearly $1.1 billion. This transaction is regarded as the first real-world application of bitcoin for physical goods, and this day has since been celebrated by the crypto community as "Bitcoin Pizza Day."
