TechFlow news, May 14 — According to The Block, Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commissioner Summer Mersinger announced she will resign on May 30 and take over as CEO of the Blockchain Association, a leading crypto industry lobbying group, starting June 2. During her tenure at the CFTC, Mersinger actively promoted collaboration with the SEC to develop a regulatory framework for digital assets. This leadership change comes as the U.S. Congress struggles to advance legislation regulating stablecoins and the cryptocurrency industry amid broad opposition. Current Blockchain Association CEO Kristin Smith will step down on May 19 to become president of the newly established Solana Policy Institute. Mersinger previously held senior roles in the Senate and House of Representatives and served as an advisor to Senate Majority Leader John Thune.
