TechFlow, May 7 — According to CoinDesk, digital bank Revolut is collaborating with blockchain payments infrastructure firm Lightspark to launch Bitcoin Lightning Network-based transaction capabilities for users in the UK and select European Economic Area countries.
The feature will leverage Lightspark’s payment infrastructure to access the Lightning Network, aiming to reduce transaction fees and shorten payment processing times. As a Layer 2 solution for Bitcoin, the Lightning Network enables near-instant, low-cost transactions.
Emil Urmanshin, Revolut's Head of Cryptocurrency, said the integration with Lightspark is a natural step toward offering faster and more affordable financial services. Notably, this move positions Revolut among fintech firms adopting crypto-native payment systems. However, Lightspark has not disclosed a specific launch timeline for the feature.
