TechFlow news, April 25 — Gitcoin co-founder Kevin Owocki announced that Gitcoin will shut down its primary software development division, Grants Lab. As a result, Grants Stack will cease maintenance and operations by May 31, 2025.
The decision comes amid ecosystem changes over the past year, including the maturation of Layer 2 networks and the lack of a clear revenue path for Grants Lab. Gitcoin will offer affected employees a base severance package, including one month of salary plus an additional month per year of service, along with token vesting benefits.
Kevin Owocki stated that Gitcoin will continue focusing on the Gitcoin Grants program and managing its portfolio. The Gitcoin ecosystem will continue operating through Gitcoin Passport (now HumnPassport), the Gitcoin Grants program, KERNEL, Public Works, and Allo Capital.
