TechFlow news: On March 16, Marek Moraczyński, head of the Ethereum client Nethermind, said on X that over 80% of Ethereum full nodes' disk space is occupied by historical data—information not needed to validate new blocks. In the latest version 1.3.1, Nethermind is now ready to remove pre-merge history via ERA file deletion, and all teams have agreed to implement this on May 1. If all past blocks and receipts are removed, keeping only the data required to validate the latest block, full node storage will be less than 200 GB.
