TechFlow news — On March 11, according to Decrypt, the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) shut down 26 fraudulent cryptocurrency websites in 2024, with consumer losses linked to these incidents exceeding $4.6 million this year.
Through its "Crypto Scam Tracker," the DFPI handled over 2,600 complaints, uncovering seven new types of scams including fake Bitcoin mining, cryptocurrency job scams, crypto gaming fraud, and deceptive artificial intelligence investment schemes.
