TechFlow news, according to The Block, Matt Huang, co-founder of crypto venture firm Paradigm, announced a $1.25 million donation to support the legal defense of Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm. Storm is facing U.S. Department of Justice charges for allegedly facilitating the laundering of over $1 billion through the cryptocurrency mixer.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated on X that the prosecution's allegations could result in software developers being held criminally liable for third-party misconduct, creating a chilling effect across the cryptocurrency industry and beyond.
Storm and his co-founder Roman Semenov were indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2023 on money laundering-related charges. Prosecutors allege they helped process illicit funds, including assets tied to the North Korean hacker group Lazarus. If convicted, Storm faces up to 45 years in prison.
