TechFlow news — On January 23, Solana core developer Cantelopepeel announced his departure to found Unto Labs, planning to develop a new Layer1 blockchain. As a lead engineer of the Firedancer client, he previously led the team in demonstrating at Breakpoint 2024 a performance capability of one million transactions per second and one billion compute units per second. Unto Labs will adopt a completely new architecture, redesigning components from the virtual machine to the consensus mechanism, but will not create an SVM chain. Cantelopepeel anticipates tens of millions of daily active wallet users by 2025, and the new project aims to meet this demand.
