TechFlow reports, on December 9, according to the latest data from Tether, at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2024, the number of wallets holding USDT on-chain reached 109 million, four times the combined total of all other stablecoins. The number of USDT wallets holding more than $0.01 amounted to 54 million, compared to just 13.8 million for other stablecoins. Over the past year, the number of USDT wallets grew by 71%, following a 129% increase the previous year.
In addition, 86 million accounts on centralized platforms have received on-chain USDT deposits. In the first three quarters of 2024, exchanges recorded 4.5 billion network visits, with 46% originating from emerging markets. Philip Gradwell, Tether's head of economics, stated that among the total 330 million on-chain users, at least one-third and possibly as many as half are currently holding USDT, highlighting its significance as a store of value.
