TechFlow reports that Polygon has announced on the X platform that a mint-condition, first-edition holographic Charizard Pokémon card from 1999 will be tokenized via the Ethereum scaling network Polygon and auctioned by collectibles platform Courtyard. The card will be securely stored in Brink's vault and is currently estimated to be worth up to $250,000.
Marc Boiron added that this auction is not just about the Charizard card, but also demonstrates how blockchain can revolutionize the world of collectibles. According to a representative from Polygon Labs, they acquired the card from a well-known seller. Market data since 2020 indicates that similar first-edition Charizard Pokémon cards have sold for between $264,000 and $400,000.
