TechFlow news, on December 4, according to Unchained Crypto, three sources familiar with the discussions revealed that President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Paul Atkins, a cryptocurrency supporter, to serve as chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Atkins previously served as an SEC commissioner during the George W. Bush administration and has long been supportive of the crypto industry. One source indicated that Trump has already contacted Atkins but is awaiting his acceptance.
Karoline Leavitt, spokesperson for the Trump-Vance transition team, told Unchained: "President-elect Trump has made wise decisions at lightning speed regarding who will serve in his second-term administration. The remaining appointments will be announced by him as decisions are finalized."
Atkins has served as co-chair of the Token Alliance, an initiative under the Digital Chamber of Commerce, since 2017. As founder and CEO of advisory firm Potomak Global Partners, he has provided regulatory compliance advice to digital finance companies since 2009.
