TechFlow reports, on December 1, Jesse Pollak, Protocol Lead at Base, stated on social media that there are no plans to launch a token for the Base network. Citing the example of Hyperliquid, he believes that before introducing tokenomics, the primary focus should be on building a product users love. Not launching a token allows the team to concentrate on solving real problems and earning user recognition through tangible contributions.
He further noted that this is not an isolated case—lessons from startup history also show that building a world-class product is paramount. He emphasized that the Base team will continue focusing on product development and addressing practical issues that help developers build better.
