TechFlow news — On November 29, according to official announcements, World ID has launched a pilot program for its passport verification system (World ID Passport Credential) in countries including Chile, Colombia, Malaysia, and South Korea. This system allows users to link their passports to their World ID via NFC functionality, while ensuring that all personal information remains fully stored on the user's personal device and is not shared with any third parties.
Users who complete passport verification will receive additional WLD token rewards. Currently, World ID users verified through the Orb can claim approximately 51.69 WLD tokens. The World Foundation stated that users completing passport verification will receive extra rewards and will not be required to undergo Orb verification.
The World ID passport verification system is currently available only on iOS devices. Users must possess an NFC-enabled passport from one of the pilot countries and be physically located within the respective country. The team indicated that an Android version is coming soon and the service will expand to more countries in the future.
