TechFlow news, on September 6, according to CNN, Hunter Biden, son of U.S. President Joe Biden, pleaded guilty in a Los Angeles federal court to nine tax-related criminal charges, including three felonies. Prosecutors accused Hunter Biden of failing to pay $1.4 million in federal taxes and evading taxes by filing false tax returns with fraudulent business deductions. He was also accused of using the funds for luxury cars, high-end hotels, and sex workers instead of paying taxes on time.
The plea is a unilateral decision by Hunter Biden, known as an "open plea," because no prior plea agreement was reached with prosecutors. Prosecutor Leo Wise said, "We were as surprised as anyone else in the courtroom." The sentencing has been scheduled for December 16, after the November presidential election. After being sworn in, Hunter Biden stated that no one had promised or pressured him to plead guilty. President Joe Biden has consistently said he would not pardon his son. Although he has announced stepping down from re-election, it remains unclear whether this stance might change.
